This episode Tory and I wanted to explore the great events Vancouver has to offer! When it came time to planning what was happening around the city when it came time to record, The Vancouver Fringe was already in full swing. Offering over 60 performances and serving it's all welcoming colourful crowd throughout the city and in the heart of Granville Island. We had to check it out. When it came to researching what show to go to, we both immediately were drawn to the musical performance of Amelie. Based off the popular classic, Amelie tell a story of a girl in Paris who through her do gooding deeds arounds her town tries to find the same openness in herself and find love. This whimsical musical adaptation of the production was directed by Chris Lam. A previous Fringe performer himself, when it came time for the broadway rights of Amelie to be distributed he was adamant to have it on the stages of Fringe. Thanks to his efforts, the play was an immediate hit! Being a sold out show every performance, it was also listed as Fringes "Spotlight Productions". After the play, both Tory and I invited him into the studio to talk not only Fringe, but even a bit more about acting in the city and more theatrical performances available all year round. The best thing about this experience I found was having the opportunity to be surrounded by the community of Fringe. All wonderfully talented, passionate theatrical performers who share bravery and openness to share their work with the world. It made me become so much more curious about theatre in general and having Tory and Chris share their experiences made me want to try it myself. This month, my challenge is to not only attend but to try improv in the city with Blind Tiger Improv. Tory and I had a blast recording this episode, we would like to thank the team at The Vancouver Fringe Festival for inviting us to a show and for Chris Lam for coming on. Guest on This Episode
